Ford has not only managed to witness a sales growth of 19 per cent for March, but also out did their rival company General Motors. Ford and Lincoln sold a total number of 212,777 vehicles for the month of March, easily topping the sales figures of GM vehicles, which were 206,621. Ford has been the highest contributor as always, managing to sell 204,276 vehicles posting a gain of 28 per cent, while Lincoln managed to sell 8,501 vehicles, a drop of 2 per cent in sales.
The rivalry among heavy duty manufacturers of trucks continues, with Chevrolet recently calling out to Ram and Ford on its website, comparing its one ton and three quarter ton trucks in an HD to HD video series. GM’s executive of global vehicle line for full size pickup trucks, Rick Spina, said that they wanted to do something different from plain spec-sheet comparisons, and wanted to showcase the performance of these trucks in real world.

Navistar International recently unveiled their severe service PayStar truck which is powered by the new big bore MaxxForce diesel engine. Depending on the needs of the customer, the entire line up of big bore MaxxForce engines, which are the MaxxForce 13, MaxxForce 11, and the MaxxForce 15 will be made available for in the International PayStar trucks.
The MaxxForce 15 has been specifically engineered for the severe service International brand of trucks. The engine provides up to 550 horsepower and generates a torque of 1,850 pounds feet. It is the most powerful engine built by Navistar.
The after effects of the Japanese earthquake and the subsequent Tsunami continue to affect the automobile industry. While the first to be affected were the major auto giants in Japan, the effects have now spread to the US as well. GM recently reported that production would be altered as a result of this natural crisis.

The Mitsubishi’s Fuso recently brought their popular cabover Canter truck to their market in North American, where they will be available in the Class 3 to Class 5 markets. The truck first made its debut at the Work Truck Show. Mitsubishi Fuso truck will feature the Duonic automatic six speed transmission of Fuso’s. It also has an after treatment emissions system by BlueTec SCR of Daimler.
